Our Walkathon last Sunday was a joyful celebration of community, fitness, and fun! We’re deeply grateful to our Walk-a-thon co-chairs, Amy Bloom and Alex Blecksmith; our Parent Association Co-chairs, Kelly O'Toole and Cindy Clark; Mrs. G; and the many parent volunteers and staff members whose hard work made the day such a success.
Upon arrival, Crestview families were greeted by our dancing Dinosaur Astronauts, Rocket Rex and Blastasaurus. The morning kicked off with a hearty pancake breakfast, perfect for catching up with friends and fueling up for the walk ahead. Our co-MCs, Rene Alvarado and Ryan Radis, kept everyone informed and entertained throughout the morning. Sixth grader Kalleigh P. performed the national anthem, earning enthusiastic applause and setting an inspiring tone for the day. After an exciting parade of classes and alumni, our walkers and runners took their marks, got set, and took off. Throughout the morning, everyone had a wonderful time, whether running at top speed, jogging, walking, listening to music, or spending time together.
Collectively, the 202 students at Walkathon ran about 1,393.25! This is approximately the distance from Crestview to Dallas, Texas!! Congratulations to Ms. Mirabian’s class, who walked the most laps (508), and to Ms. Thai’s class, the only class with 100% participation. Fifth grader, Zephyr G. broke his own school record, running an amazing 90 laps or about 22.3 miles—congratulations, Zephyr! A total of 34 medals were awarded to the top lap walkers/runners in each class at a special morning assembly on Thursday.
Thank you again to all who made this unforgettable day possible!
