Designing Leprechaun Traps (or Playgrounds) in Kindergarten

After reading How to Catch a Leprechaun by Adam Wallace, our Kindergarteners leapt into the magical world of leprechauns as we learned more about these mischievous tricksters. We strategized creative ways to catch a leprechaun, then put on our engineering caps to design our very own traps, or as we like to call them, “playgrounds!” Students thoughtfully planned ways to make their playgrounds irresistible, incorporating rainbow slides, pots of gold coins, climbing structures, and even hidden surprises. They experimented with making their designs both sturdy and sneaky enough to keep a leprechaun from escaping. We are so proud of our students’ engineering skills, and their creativity and clever contraptions might just help us catch a leprechaun at last!
