Art

Working with clay is one of the most exciting experiences of the year in art class! Crestview’s ceramic arts program provides a fun, creative, and collaborative environment in which students learn and experiment with clay. Everyone receives comprehensive technical instruction in various techniques, including pinch, coil, slab, and other hand-building methods. This unit provides many opportunities to learn from and appreciate the work of others as students move through the steps required to transform wet clay into finished ceramics. After waiting for the clay to dry for a month so it can be fired in our kiln, they finalize their projects with various glazes. Ultimately, Crestview students emerge not only with clay creations but also with a fresh understanding of the artistry they possess within their own hands.
