Eco Club

Food waste is a major contributor to Global Warming! Decomposing food in landfills is creating methane gas which depletes our ozone. Crestview’s ECO club is aware of this problem and is working in the school community to combat this situation. During lunch, they collect food scraps in the upper school to add to our compost bin. In addition, many classrooms collect condiment packets so they are not added to the landfill. Our condiment packages were donated to a local Burbank artist named Nikki Wall in December. She received packets from many different people and groups and created an art piece called Food Waste is a Black Hole using the different food contents such as ketchup, mustard, mayo and dips. Her piece will be displayed this weekend at the Atmosphere event in downtown Los Angeles. Thanks to all the ECO Club members for their positive energies and dedication.
