In fourth grade, our students have been hard at work! We recently wrapped up our “Best Part of Me” project, where students paired their heartfelt writing with black-and-white photos to celebrate what makes them unique. Now, we’ve jumped into small-moment narrative writing. Students are focusing on personal moments that spark pure joy, make them giggle and smile, remind them of loved ones, or stand out in their memories as a moment they will never forget. They’re learning to zoom in on these experiences through an author’s creative and detailed lens, leading them to think about how their five senses framed their overall experience.
From stories about tasting a new food for the first time to hitting a home run in an unforgettable baseball game, their writing truly comes alive on the page!
