Living Wax Museum Honors Famous Women

Second-grade students recently spent several weeks studying the lives and achievements of famous women throughout history. Their exploration included reading biographies, taking detailed notes, and writing reports to better understand the impact these women had on the world. The culmination of their hard work was an exciting and educational Wax Museum event, where the students brought their research to life for younger children to visit and interact with. Second graders dressed as the historical figures they had studied, complete with costumes, props, and presentation posters. Each student acted as a “living statue” of a famous woman they had researched, holding still until visitors stopped by to listen to their reports. Second graders dove into the lives of women from a variety of fields, including science, politics, and art.  Among these historical figures were Sally Ride, Kamala Harris, Ruby Bridges, and Yayoi Kusama. The project gave second-grade students a sense of pride in their research and an opportunity to share their work while practicing their public speaking skills.  Their hard work and dedication to honoring these incredible women left a lasting impact on our school community.
