Second Grade

Recently, they plunged into an exhilarating educational adventure at Cal Poly Pomona's BioTrek indoor rainforest! They were immersed in vibrant sights and sounds as they encountered many fascinating plants and animals in this biodiverse habitat. They caught a glimpse of the caiman, a relative of the alligator, but the excitement didn't end there! They were also privileged to interact with a king snake and the ornate spiny-tailed lizard, feeling their cool scales while learning about their roles in the rainforest ecosystem. These hands-on experiences brought our learning to life, sparking curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the wonders of nature.

Now that they have returned from this unforgettable field trip, our journey continues with a new focus on nonfiction writing. Each student will research and write about an aspect of the rainforest, examining the intricate details of their chosen topic and showcasing its importance within the rainforest community. Our exploration through words will mirror the diversity and complexity of the rainforest itself. Cal Poly Pomona's BioTrek indoor rainforest isn't just a place of discovery—it's a gateway to understanding, empathy, and conservation. Join them as they embark on our literary expedition, weaving tales of wonder and knowledge inspired by the captivating world of the rainforest.
