Sixth Grade

In sixth grade, we are working on science projects. Student scientists first decided on questions they wanted to investigate, and they did research on the science concepts and phenomena related to their questions to gain background knowledge. This research helped each of them form a hypothesis, determine what materials they would need, and design an experiment that would test their independent variable while keeping all else constant. It also helped them write down a procedure that might be followed by other scientists to replicate their work. Sixth grade scientists will take careful measurements and be sure to record qualitative and quantitative data as needed. Student scientists will run multiple trials of their experiments, create tables and graphs of their data, and present their discoveries on a trifold. Once they have their data, they will write up a thoughtful analysis and conclusion, always keeping in mind how they might do things differently or what further research might be warranted. We cannot wait to see what our sixth grade scientists discover in the course of their projects.
