Maker

In fourth grade Maker class, students created a drip irrigation system out of recycled water bottles. Water irrigation takes the place of rainfall in dry regions like those found in California. In Ms. Sands’ Science class, each student planted their own plant outside the fourth grade garden. After learning about different irrigation systems, students made their own drip irrigation system to help water their plants during Thanksgiving break. We took the water bottles and added our own colorful touch to each bottle. After  carving a small hole on the cap, students added a q-tip to help catch the water and create a slow drip. Students used bamboo sticks to help the water bottle stand above their plants. Problem solving skills were implemented as some water bottles began tipping over! Students had so much fun learning and creating while taking care of their plants.
