Surf Club

Last weekend the Crestview Surf Club hosted a Beach Clean-Up at Zuma Beach!  The Surf Club has been meeting weekly on Wednesday mornings learning not only about riding waves but ocean life and how to care for it. One of the biggest problems in our oceans are microplastics ending up inside our precious sea life. Our group made up of K-2 students, did a scavenger hunt on the beach looking for tiny bits of plastic and trash. They found a lot! The children collectively recognized that even on a cleaner-than-most beach, there is still plenty of harmful trash. The group also had a blast taking a surf lesson, digging in the sand, and playing with seaweed. The ocean air was refreshing for everyone and the children left the beach better than they found it! Keep up the good work, Crestview Surf Club!
