During the month of December, the second graders learned how people celebrate the holidays around the world. Students picked a holiday or country of their choice to research. The destinations were as varied as the holidays represented: from Bolivia to China and from Ōmisoka to Boxing Day. Over the two weeks of researching, students used a variety of resources like articles and digital encyclopedias. The project culminated in a presentation on the country or holiday to their peers. Everyone had the opportunity to learn about other cultures and what makes them unique and special.
