The Academic Core

Crestview Preparatory School offers a strong academic program that combines the best of tradition and innovation in education. The academic core program, including reading and language arts, mathematics, social studies and science, is taught by grade level teachers in self-contained classrooms. In the primary years (K-3), the program emphasizes skill building which lays the foundation for greater focus on content development and independent learning in the elementary years (grades 4-6). The grade level classroom program is complemented by enrichment classes in the arts, physical education, Spanish, and the library.

The Crestview program is designed to prepare students for success in pre-collegiate secondary schools by giving them a strong foundation of knowledge and the personal and study habits to help them succeed in a rigorous academic program. We are also preparing students to successfully navigate the information rich environment of the 21st century. Developing core competencies in accessing, evaluating, and synthesizing information, provides the basis for critical and creative thinking in the quickly changing, complex world of their future.

While the business of school is academics, we recognize that academics cannot be isolated from the full spectrum of a child's development. Therefore, a Crestview education is a complete education. While students build academic skills and foundation knowledge to facilitate continued and effective learning, we seek to foster an attitude of excitement for learning, curiosity, and exploration that will be a lifelong asset. And, since education is not limited to the classroom, in everything we do as a school, we work to nurture the development of spirit and character, social skills, artistic expression and physical abilities even as we develop the intellect of the child.
